How do I become a pilot car racing?
im not talking about Indy or NASCAR or formula. im talking about in real Racing Cars such as Corvettes and Nissan Skyline and racing on real tracks like Laguna Seca. Is there a sport of racing for that? rite now im 16 and i live in new york. I've always loved cars since I 4.
There are several avenues of approach, but first you may want to start with something like autocrossing. Watch your local SCCA region and go to an event and learn to control the car, set up and their abilities. After a little practice and learning pass something like that "Tricky" suggests, the attack time or one group of races that have instruction to tracks like Autometrix Chin Motorsports and Motorsports, or visit the NASA website (shopping) or for SCCA HPDE (high performance driving event). If you have a few thousand dollars, try something like truancy or similar Barber. Since you live in NY, you should head to Connecticut in winter and try an autocross on ice frozen lake, to learn control.
