Gaughan brings Hoya Pride to the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series
Brendan Gaughan, the famed truck racer from Nevada, will undertake Dover 'Monster Mile 'this weekend with an extra blast of confidence as he sports a special Georgetown University paint on his No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado.
"There are not many race car drivers period that have college degrees especially from colleges that are the caliber of a university Georgetown, "Gaughan said." When I get to run that paint scheme, it is an honor and a privilege for me. I proud to be a Hoya. "
Gaughan will honor his school and its athletic programs on the track this weekend at Dover. It also provides to donate all his winnings from the race Dover Back to the University. "Being part of Georgetown and its athletic program is something I am so proud, that is why I want to represent them on my race truck, "he said. "Coach (John) Thompson was more than a coach or teacher – He was a friend, a hero, a mentor. I wish him and the entire athletic department proud of our truck and our race at Dover. I can not What better way to give back to a place that meant a lot to me. "
Gaughan attended Georgetown University and graduated in 1997 with a degree in business management. While at Georgetown, he participated in two college sports. He received the All-Conference honors at the NCAA Division IAA football. He also earned a spot on the team Hoyas basketball, playing for coach Legendary Thompson. The team played Gaughan has recorded two Big East championships in the regular season and participated in two Sweet 16 and an Elite Eight in the NCAA post-season tournament plays.
"Dover is the track most surprising," Gaughan said. "It the track when my spotter had to remind myself to breathe. This is the only place where you feel a sensation of speed. It's Bristol on steroids. It's a great race track. It's fast. It is aggressive. He is a monster. It's fun as hell to race. I know I blew a chance to win at Dover in 2003, and I would get it back time, "he said.
With additional support from Chevrolet and research further development and that crew chief Bryan Berry has every race, Gaughan feels confident that his team of South Point Racing will make him a candidate for the win Dover. With Georgetown logos prominently displayed on his race truck, Gaughan also hopes that some of the positive energy the recent series of team basketball Hoyas will go his way.
His race truck will not only appeal to lovers because of its important alt = "Chevrolet pickup handle relocation kit"> Chevrolet pickup kit move handle. The logo of Georgetown basketball and mascot Team, Jack the Bulldog, could be the trick. "Hopefully we'll go to Dover and make a run for Georgetown and n 77 fans out there like my basketball team did during Hoyas March Madness, "Gaughan said.
