What advice would you give to new NASCAR fan?

I grew up in North Carolina (NASCAR country) and I always wanted to join in NASCAR. Since they were not really any black people in the race I have ever had in her. I use to watch the highlights gym and thats about it. Now, in 2010, I'll watch more NASCAR races starting with the Daytona 500. The little I have seen in racing, I liked and I just want to know if someone could give me some advice on things to watch during a race and that sort of thing. I'm trying choose a driver to encourage and why I think I'll go with Mark Martin, because he never won a NASCAR points title and the more he loves rap music, something I like too. Any advice you could give me would be great

I am a former street racer and automotive technician, and my best advice to you is do not choose a favorite driver. You'll find yourself watching the race with blinders on and bored. This is more fun if you accept everyone as competition, and you can enjoy the race from the front to the middle to the back of the field. And also by not stuck on a driver you will not get your feelings hurt, like all people who will give me thumbs down because they are angry against me because they know I know they pick favorites. But I do not, I always speak my mind and I have a competitive nature, and I respect every man who straps into a race car. I am also on a north Minneapolis, MN, and I know some black people who are also street racing and NASCAR, and can build machines averages. Accept the whole sport, and it will be much more important to you. Do not force yourself having to choose a favorite "driver, and you will see a lot of things most people do not. Watch and everyone watching how they do their thing. Each driver has its own style. But please, keep an open mind, and never hate competition. By doing this, you will appreciate guys who wins a race or a championship, because you will not be rooting for a driver, you'll be rooting for the competition in turn. I do not watch Cup races, but I have seen all the races for the past 120 races, and I just watched to see who can give the best results, whether they win or not. Follow my board for the first half of the season, and then you'll know which driver you want to "watch". We need to respect all the drivers for the representations they give us.
